This Traeger beer can chicken is so easy and delicious. We use our own simple Kansas City-style dry rub and a lager to smoke this chicken to moist, flavorful perfection. It's the perfect rotisserie chicken substitute.

Key Ingredients

Whole Chicken Beer Can Olive Oil Brown Sugar Smoked Paprika Garlic Powder Onion Powder Cayenne

Step 1

Preheat your Traeger to 275°F.

Step 2

Add the dry rub ingredients to a small bowl and mix to combine. Set aside.

Step 3

Remove the giblets from your chicken. Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel.

Step 4

Cover the outside and the center of the cavity with olive oil.

Step 5

Then cover it with the dry rub.

Step 6

Place the chicken on top of the 2/3 full beer can so that the can is inside the cavity of the chicken and it is sitting upright on the Traeger.

Step 7

Smoke for 1.5 hours or until 150°F. Then turn the heat to high (450°F) and cook for an additional 15 minutes, or until the chicken reaches 175°F.

Step 8

Remove the chicken from the Traeger, discard the beer can, and allow to rest before cutting. Then serve!
