Description
We make this Traeger asparagus at least once a week. It’s super fast and easy, and it makes the perfect 10-minute side for any summer meal. We coat it in parmesan cheese and the perfect mix of seasonings and then grill it to perfection.
Ingredients
1 pound asparagus spears
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne
Instructions
- Preheat your Traeger or pellet grill to 400°F.
- Trim the woody ends off the bottom of your asparagus (the bottom inch or so). Then place it on a sheet pan or in a large mixing bowl, and add the oil, parmesan, salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and ground cayenne. Mix until the asparagus is evenly coated.
- Put the asparagus directly onto the grill and cook, undisturbed, for 5-7 minutes, or until tender. It should still be slightly crunchy but easy to bite into.
Notes
Don't overcook the asparagus. It really only takes about 5 minutes and it gets soggy when overcooked.
We use fresh grated parmesan, but you can buy it pre-grated if you prefer. Just buy the good stuff in the refrigerated section, not the cylindrical shelf-stable containers—it’s so much better.
