Why We Love This Dressing
- It's lighter than normal blue cheese dressing: We mix a little bit of mayonnaise with greek yogurt to form the base of this blue cheese dressing. It's lighter than sour cream or milk and has some extra protein too!
- It's easy: Making my own salad dressing always turns me off because it feels like it should be a lot of work, but this dressing really isn't. Throw the ingredients into a bowl, mix them up, and you're done. It's that simple.
- It's delicious: This blue cheese dressing tastes ten times better than anything you'll buy at the store and it's healthier too!
Key Ingredients and Substitutions
Mayonnaise: We love Duke's, Hellmann's, and Chosen Foods (the best avocado oil-based mayonnaise, IMHO), but use whatever you normally buy. You can even make your own! If you want to lighten this up even more, use all greek yogurt and omit the mayonnaise.
Greek yogurt: We use whole milk greek yogurt, but low fat works too. You can use sour cream if you want, but the greek yogurt lightens this dressing up a bit and adds some protein (it also happens to be what we usually have on hand).
Worcestershire sauce: Worcestershire adds some nice umami flavor. If you don't have any, you can omit it or substitute soy sauce or coconut aminos.
Blue cheese: I like mild blue cheese, but use whatever you prefer. Gorgonzola would be good too!
Frank's Original RedHot Sauce: You can leave this out if you don't like spicy food, but it really just adds flavor—it's not super spicy when mixed with the mayo and yogurt. You can substitute your favorite kind of hot sauce.

Step 2: Transfer to a serving dish or air-tight container (a jar works well) and serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Serving Ideas
This greek yogurt blue cheese dressing is great with:
- Salad: This one is pretty obvious, but this dressing tastes great on a garden salad with fresh crunchy lettuce, cherry tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, and extra blue cheese.
- Chicken wings: Another classic! Use this as a dip for your chicken wings.
- Veggies: Cut up some carrots, celery, peppers, cucumbers, and radishes and use this dressing as a dip. So good and perfect for summer.
- Chicken nuggets/strips: Another great dipping opportunity! We love this dressing with Just Bare chicken nuggets from Costco.
Frequently asked questions
Yes! I usually use this dressing as a dip, so I like it thick. But if you want to use it as a salad dressing and thin it out a bit, just add a little bit of milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
Absolutely. I prefer the greek yogurt because it's a little healthier and we usually already have it on hand, but sour cream would be delicious and a similar consistency.
Yep! It tastes a lot like ranch dressing without the blue cheese.
