This iced lavender matcha latte is my favorite spring drink to make at home. It's similar to the new Starbucks Lavender Oatmilk Latte, but without the cold foam. It's the perfect easy matcha drink.

What is matcha?
Matcha is a powder made from a special kind of green tea leaves that are shade-grown. It is bright green in color and has a grassy, slightly bitter, and subtly sweet taste. If you've never had it, you might find the flavor off-putting, but it's really quite tasty when prepared well!
Matcha is usually sold as either ceremonial grade or culinary grade. Culinary grade is slightly cheaper, but it has a more bitter taste and a grittier texture. It's generally used for baking or cooking. Ceremonial grade matcha is higher quality, sweeter, and smoother. It's perfect for drinking.
Why We Love This Lavender Matcha Latte
- It's easy: If I have to froth milk, I'm not going to make it everyday. This lavender matcha latte is made with regular iced milk, so no frothing is necessary. It only requires 3 ingredients and about 5 minutes.
- It delicious: This latte isn't too sweet and the lavender flavor pairs perfectly with the matcha. It's so easy to drink.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
Matcha: We recommend ceremonial grade matcha for its sweeter flavor and smoother texture (see notes in "what is matcha" section above). Matcha can usually be found in the tea section of the grocery store (just make sure you buy matcha powder and not green tea bags).
Lavender syrup: We buy our lavender syrup online, but you may be able to find it at a specialty grocery store. World Market also carries it. A bottle lasts us a long time.
Milk: We use non-dairy milk most of the time, but dairy milk works well too! Use whatever kind of milk you usually drink. We love all of Elmhurst's dairy-free milks.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Sift matcha through a matcha sifter or a fine-mesh strainer to remove any large clumps (if you don't have a sifter, just break up any large clumps with a spoon).
Step 2: Add the matcha, lavender syrup, and hot water to a matcha bowl and vigorously whisk with a bamboo matcha whisk in an "M" formation for about 30 seconds. If you don't have a matcha bowl or whisk, put the mixture into a jar with a lid and shake vigorously until well-combined.
Step 3: Add ice and milk to a tall glass, then pour the matcha over the top and serve!
