Why We Love These Sweet Potatoes
- They're easy: These sweet potatoes are perfect for busy weeknights because they only require three ingredients and less than half an hour.
- They're versatile: We season these sweet potatoes with a generic BBQ dry rub, so they pair well with almost anything. Serve them with meat, fish, or other veggies.
- They're fun: Wedged sweet potatoes cooked on the Traeger? What could be more fun?

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
Sweet potatoes: Normal sweet potatoes or Japanese sweet potatoes (the purple ones that are white inside) work well.
Extra virgin olive oil: You can substitute avocado oil or whatever oil you generally cook with.
BBQ dry rub: We love our Kansas City BBQ rub recipe and Kosmos Q Dirty Bird dry rub. Most poultry BBQ dry rubs work well.
See recipe card for full ingredient list and amounts.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Turn your Traeger to high and wait for the temperature to reach 425°F.
Step 2: Cut the sweet potatoes into wedges. Add them to a large mixing bowl with the olive oil and dry rub. Mix until the sweet potatoes are evenly coated in oil and seasonings.
Step 3: Evenly distribute the sweet potato wedges on a piece of foil (I fold the sheet in half and fold the edges up to make it sturdier). Then place the sweet potatoes onto the Traeger. Cook for 25 minutes, flipping halfway, or until tender (they should be easy to pierce with a fork).
Frequently asked questions

Store these sweet potatoes in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. They're best reheated in an air fryer at 400°F for 4-5 minutes, or until warm.
These sweet potatoes pair well with grilled meat or fish (check out our recipes below) or on their own with a good dipping sauce (eaten like sweet potato fries).
